Difficulty Paper-Scarlet Letter

I am finding that I am having a very hard time understanding the Scarlet Letter. The book is written in a different language to me which made it VERY hard to understand. Plain English would have been nice so that I could understand. I read it through the first time and was totally confused! I thought The Flowers was going to be a rough book to get through but I truley judged a book by its cover! This book was by far HARD to understand. I read the book over again and still find myself guessing what the author was trying to say. Hopefully this gets easier as I go! :-/
